4-Day Rwanda Wildlife Safari to Akagera National Park (Big Five Close Experience)
This 4-Day Akagera & Lake Ihema Rwanda Wildlife Safari takes us to Akagera National Park for multiple game drives, a canoe ride on Lake Ihema, and the chance to search for the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
Akagera National Park once protected nearly 10% of Rwanda and was considered one of the finest wildlife reserves in all of Africa. There are three distinct environments in the park, and if you are lucky, you may even see the elusive shoebill stork.
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our Rwanda Safari guide, who will transfer you to your hotel.

After breakfast, head to Lake Ihema for a canoe ride to see aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles, as well as water birds including the papyrus gonolek, shoebill stork, and African fish eagle.
Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest before an afternoon game drive through the southern savannah section of the park, where you can spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, and buffalo gathering near the waterholes as the day cools.

Today is your highlight day a full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch. Your guide will lead you into the remote northern sector of the park, the prime territory for big predators.
Here you’ll search for lions and leopards, as well as elephants, Cape buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, impala, oribi, bushbucks, antelopes, Cape elands, and the black rhinos that were reintroduced to the park. You may also spot primates like the olive baboon, vervet monkey, and bush baby.
Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for dinner.

After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive, the best time of day for wildlife sightings, as you slowly make your way out of the park.
You will then return to Kigali for lunch, followed by a transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
