Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to the Hotel for Dinner & Overnight

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be joyfully and kindly welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to your booked accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay. You will have a detailed briefing on your tour itinerary by our staff.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park

After a hearty breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and start on your Kigali city tour. Enjoy the beautiful view of the emerging hills and drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Here, over 256,000 victims of the Rwandan genocide of 1994 were laid to rest as a sign of respect to their bodies. You will then drive to the Volcanoes National Park, the home of mountain gorillas. `Have an en-route stopover to take some beautiful photos and have a great view of the rolling landscape. You will later visit Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about the history. You will relax at your lodge, enjoy the property amenities and prepare for your next day’s gorilla trekking activity. You will spend the evening at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience

On this special day, you will have the rare opportunity to observe the famous Rwandan mountain gorillas. Tracking the gorillas through the forested slopes of Virunga is a magical experience. You will be allowed a period of 1 hour with these primates, as you take photos and watch the juveniles play about. The whole trekking experience can last 2 – 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. You will be back at the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to learn about their culture. Later, drive back to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay. Enjoy the property amenities and leisure time.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Road Transfer to Lake Kivu for Relaxation

After breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari driver-guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing. You then start off your day with golden monkey trekking in search of these primates in the jungle. Later, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation and enjoy the water views. You will then have dinner and overnight stay at the Resort.

Day 5: Lake Kivu and Transfer to Kigali International Airport

Spend the day leisurely exploring Lake Kivu. You can take a boat ride to visit nearby islands, observe local fishing practices, and interact with island communities. You will return to the resort for lunch then transfer by road to Kigali International Airport for your departure back home.
